We're up early for another day on the river, but with many more opportunities to stop and explore. We visit a Thai Lue village of hill tribe people where we gain more insights into the lifestyles of the many ethnic minorities in Laos.

Our next stop is Tham Ting, a large limestone grotto with hundreds of ancient Buddha images - long regarded as a sacred cave by Lao Buddhists.

Our final stop before the river journey ends is at Ban Sang Hai - a primitive whiskey distillery located right beside the riverbank where rice is fermented into a type of local moonshine.

By evening we have reached our Mekong journeys end at the very center of the ancient Laos Kingdom, the legendary Luang Prabang.

Dinner and overnight at a delightful Guest House - Jum Jum Cheng, situated in the quiet heart of the historic quarter and beside the most famous monastery.
