Day 4 - Wats, Royal Palace & Phousi Mountain

Early risers will have the reward of viewing the literally thousands of novice monks who walk the streets of Luang Prabang barefoot each dawn during their morning alms rounds. It is a spectacle of devotion - profoundly moving -- and unsurpassed in Asia.

After a hearty breakfast we set off to explore the many wonders of this 1,200 year old city-- some of the 32 wats, the Royal Palace, and National Museum displaying the many priceless treasures of the Lao Kingdom.

In the afternoon, we travel by traditional open-air vehicle to a spectacular waterfall to enjoy a picnic lunch, then explore some quaint nearby villages and markets.

We climb Phousi Mountain, in the very center of old Luang Prabang, to view this timeless town during the magical moment of sunset.

Dining possibilities are endless in Luang Prabang. The finest traditions from the French colonial period blend perfectly with the local flavors of Lao/Thai cuisine, so we are guaranteed great meals anywhere we choose to eat.
