Day 7 Study Focus: Ancient Temples & Historic Silk Villages Along the Mekong

  • Today we have a chance to relax some sore muscles as we take vehicles from Kratie for the drive south to the twin mountain temples of Phnom Bros Phnom Srei near Kompong Cham.
  • After exploring the temples for Naga images we will drive to the town of Skoun, famous for its fried tarantulas, before boarding a two-deck cruise boat for a relaxing afternoon voyage through the Mekong’s fabled Silk Islands.
  • This is a day to totally relax as we stop at a sandy island beach for a swim and picnic lunch, make excursions ashore at silk villages and a pagoda, and enjoy a final sunset over the Mekong. As we cruise into Phnom Penh in the evening, we will enjoy a BBQ farewell dinner aboard our vessel.
  • It’s just a short stroll from our landing point to our guesthouse for the night where cushy beds will be a welcome sight.

Overnight: Guest House – Phnom Penh, Cambodia
