Day 4 - Freshwater Wetlands

Following an early breakfast we set off by mini van to explore the unspoiled rural life along the shores of Thale Lam lagoon enroute to Thale Noi. (You can try your hand at fishing with the huge dip nets this region is famous for).

Arriving at Thale Noi, we are dazzled by one of the world's largest displays of pink waterlilies in bloom, and 187 bird species. More than 40,000 water birds can congregate here in the dry season (Nov. - Apr.) Herons, ducks, egrets, kingfishers, stilts, cormorants, terns, jacanas, swamp hens, coots, grebes, storks and many others are easily sighted.

Following a two hour boat trip around this world class wetland we set off by mini van for Trang Province and a picnic lunch beside Ton Tae, one of south Thailand's most beautiful waterfalls.

By sunset we have reached the shores of the Andaman Sea, having crossed the Thai peninsula from the east to west coast in only a few hours.

A fabulous sunset and fresh seafood dinner awaits us at the lovely Pak Meng Beach Resort - our home for two nights & a chance to have laundry done.
