Day 3 Study Focus: prehistoric habitation caves and pictographs

  • Following breakfast, we set off by passenger van a short drive north to Bor Thor for another great kayaking adventure. This region of the Krabi coast is famous for its caves where prehistoric peoples painted images on the limestone walls in red ochre, crushed seashells and black charcoal pigments. Among the fine paintings are hands, fish, birds and supernatural beings that depict the everyday life and mythical beliefs of people living here 3,000 years ago.

  • Returning from our paddle to Pee Hua Cave, we explore Tham Lod – a dramatic cave passageway adorned in huge hanging stalagtites. Lunch is served at a seaside restaurant before our drive back to Krabi International Airport (or bus station) for the return journey home. Rest assured, students will be happier, more knowledgeable and far fitter when they arrive there.
